Dog Anal Gland Expressionshape Back

About

On the inside of your dog's rectum, you can see two little sacs embedded in the muscle wall. Each side of the chest has one sac. You may find these pouches on the back of your dog. In the process of passing a fluid with a strong odor, these sacs are accountable for what are referred to as bowel movements. You may not know this, but your dog's anal glands are believed to contribute to your two-way communication in addition to releasing an odor whenever he discharges. Furthermore, they may facilitate your pet's bowel movements while they eat. Occasionally, the dog may feel discomfort or even agony when these glands do not release their contents in the usual way. For the dog, this might be a really unpleasant ordeal.

Blockages in the anal glands may cause discomfort and agony if not addressed quickly enough, and they can even get infected. A trip to the vet is in order if you see any of the following symptoms: a red behind, gnawing, dragging them behind over the floor, or licking it. Scooting on the floor or carpet might be an indicator of another ailment, but it could also be a signal of anger in the dog. The dog may be showing signs of stress if it scoots about on the floor or carpet. If you would like to schedule an inspection, please do not hesitate to call Clarence St Vet Clinic in Port Colborne.
